C. S. Lewis, ”Petitionary Prayer,” Part 2

The full title of this essay is, "Petitionary Prayer: A Problem Without an Answer." Lewis here muses on a scriptural puzzle. There seem to be two "patterns" for petitionary prayer presented in the New Testament. One presents the pattern of "nevertheless, not my will, but Thine be done," and the other seems to indicate a faith such that whatever is asked, it will be given. Lewis attempts with his usual wit and incisiveness to make sense of the distinction.
